Bootcamp Blueprint Timeline
Two to six weeks. Structure plus love. Clear communication that lasts.
Week 1
Days 1 to 3
Meaningful Boundaries and Evaluation
New environment, clear structure, calm starts. We set the tone and learn the dog.
- Crate reps, yard thresholds, waiting at gates and doors.
- Observe impulse behavior and introduce healthy boundaries with thresholds and people.
- Temperament checks: dog to dog, people, food, and toys.
- Introduce prong and retractable leash in the yard to begin leash communication foundation.
Playing With Purpose: short play breaks followed by drill reps to establish structure within exciteable energy.
Week 1
Days 2 to 6
Exploration Walk to Short Leash Skills
We build fluent leash language, then tighten the picture.
- Retractable leash reps to master leash pressure and release while moving and stopping.
- Swap to short leash once the dog turns and stops with us smoothly.
- Turn, Bump, Stop as core pattern. Rapid-fire Place and Sit begin.
Result: efficient movement beside the handler and calmer decision making.
Week 2
Days 7 to 14
Farmer’s Market Walk and Cooperative Distractions
Refine Week 1 skills, add duration and challenge in controlled ways.
- Harder walks: parks, blocks, or in-house setups using current dogs as distraction.
- Cooperative distractions first. Then less cooperative so the dog learns to hold position under temptation.
- By the end of Week 2: solid Sit, reliable Place, confident passes near dogs in managed settings.
- Target: Farmer’s Market Walk standard in busy public spaces when appropriate.
Owner Lesson: Practice leash skills (exploration walk and turn, bump, and stop) to lock in leash communication at home.
End Week 2 to Week 3
Days 12 to 21
Bulletproof Obedience and Reliable Recall Introduction
We layer in the remote collar to establish communication via the “Bluetooth Leash”.
- Find working levels in multiple locations: side gates, front door, yard and play zones.
- Pair verbal markers with e-collar for Recall, Place, Sit, Down.
- Blend distractions with remote collar communication so the dog understands off-leash communication around temptation.
Safety: anxious or aggressive cases advance only as the dog shows stable recovery and focus.
Week 3 to 4
Days 15 to 28
Long Line Prep for Off-Leash
We stretch the distance while keeping communication clear and obvious.
- Long lines 15 to 40 feet at the park or big yard.
- Turn and Tap patterns with frequent Recalls.
- Purposeful play intervals to rehearse freedom then accountability.
Playing With Purpose: free time on cue, then back to training to teach on and off switches with playful, excited energy.
Owner Lesson: Practice turn and tap with remote collar to begin solidifying appropriate timing and off-leash communication.
Weeks 4 to 6
Days 22 to 42
Proofing, Public Outings, and Advanced Reliability
More environments, more variables, same rules. We lock in real-world readiness.
- Mixed venues: trails, plazas, pet-friendly stores, markets, outdoor dining where appropriate.
- Switching between on and off-leash during sessions to verify the communication is truly understood.
- Repetition for anxious or excitable dogs to build new habits. Increased challenge for high performers up to service-style standards.
Goal: A dog that can navigate crowds, dogs, food, and noise with focus, patience, and self-control.
Final Owner Lesson: Full hand-off and at-home progression plan so results last.
Tools are introduced responsibly: a prong, remote collar, long line, and retractable leash are teaching aids that improve clarity, communication, and safety between the dog and the human.
